Introduction

Welcome to the home page for those sharing a segment of dna on chromosome 19 and trying to figure out which ancestor is responsible for that.
For this segment (001-017 mbp) we have a head start in that we have a close matches (around 28cM) between two known 2nd cousins, plus a smaller (10cM) match to a known 3rd cousin which fully triangulates the segment to Peter SINTON and Jane WIGHT who married in 1806 at Southdean, Roxburghshire, all matching another with Borders ancestry.
Just along from this segment (034 - 040mbp) the match also shares a smaller segment with another descendant of Peter and Jane.
We are therefore on the hunt to refine which paternal line for the match accounts for this.

In order to help refine which ancestor(s) of our matches are responsible for the shared/inherited DNA it is very useful to have a range of tested descendants.
We would therefore particularly love to hear from descendants of any of the following who either have joined in the fun of autosomal dna testing, or who may be interested in doing so (see DNA Groups page for further information).
Links are to either WikiTree or FamilySearch, both collaborative one world trees where it is free to register and contribute.
With known descendants in the tested gene pool the matches become easier to assign to specific ancestral lines for further investigation of links between matches where the links are not known.

We would particularly love to hear from any atDNA tested descendant(s) of Adam HENDERSON and Janet EASTON to (dis)prove that this couple is the one responsible for the matching dna.
The other paternal line for the match that is possible and needs to be investigated is that of Sidney Truman RHEAD whose ancestry may well contain double doses of RHEAD DNA.

Peter SINTON and Jane WIGHT are the confirmed MRCA for 4 of the matches - could be either's line of ancestry Peter SINTON (Some) Descendants of Peter and Jane
The favoured candidate ancestral line of the best match on this segment: Adam and Janet married shortly before the 1841 census at Oxnam, Roxburghshire and emigrated to the States in 1873.   (Some) Descendants of Adam HENDERSON and Janet EASTON
Prime contenders for Adam's parents - no proof yet found - Oliver HENDERSON & Isabel SINTON who married in 1808 at Cavers, Roxburghshire   (Some) Descendants of Oliver and Isabel
We do have to rule in or out this line of the match's ancestry however, particularly as there may be doubled chances of RHEAD dna surviving down the generations:   (Some) Ancestors of Sydney Truman RHEAD

Chr19P000ChromosomeMap If registered for the site, you may find a chromosome map of the dna segments in the Histories link in the sidebar.
Some of the people mentioned are linked to their tree in DNAGeds tree
Do NOT believe such trees without verification as they are merely quick research into possible areas to explain dna matches.
